A New Era For European Esports
By Ruben Oesterling
The European Union (EU) could officially fund esports in the near-future. The European Parliament’s Committee on Culture and Education (CULT) adopted a parliamentary report last week. They call for the EU to recognize the value in esports and publicly fund them. They also want to develop long-term strategies for these sectors.
With better state aid, esports can blow up according to CULT. They also suggest pushing video games in schools. But they won’t ignore problems that could occur such as health-risks or exclusion. They want to address and fix those problems for fair play for all players.
