Call of Duty: Chicago Huntsmen Stay Alive
Each week at CheckpointXP we bring you a moment in gaming that’s too close for comfort. This week we wipe the sweat from our brow after a game five in the Call of Duty League playoffs with the Chicago Huntsmen. The Chicago Huntsmen keep the play-off dreams alive after a narrow win over Optic Gaming Los Angeles.
The Road to Victory
The road to victory in the Call of Duty League is fraught with challenges and for the Huntsmen, one loss. The Huntsmen had to fight their way through three teams to make it into the championship weekend. They got a first-round bye and then faced off against the New York Subliners in round two. The Huntsmen managed to snatch a win in game five. In Round three they faced off against the Atlanta FaZe which also went to a game five. But Atlanta emerged the victor in that bout sending Chicago to the losers bracket. Now one game from elimination the Chicago Huntsmen needed victory for a chance to keep playing toward the championship.
A Narrow Triumph
The match against Optic Gaming Los Angeles was one of the closest games in the post-seasons. They traded maps back and forth with no clear team gaining a dominant momentum over the other. In the final game five, it went all the way to the 11th round. But HECZ and his Huntsmen defeated his old Optic crew. All the way down to the wire, this match was decided with a final 1 v 1. The Chicago Huntsmen advance towards the Call of Duty League championship bracket.
