Dominique “SonicFox” McLean is one of the most prolific esports athletes of this generation. They’ve won multiple awards and continue to stand atop the Fighting Game Community. So its hard to believe that SonicFox spent the first part of 2020 as a free agent. Well that is no more as they have signed to Evil Geniuses, finally giving a home to the highest earner in fighting games history.
Sonicfox signed to the now defunct Echo Fox way back in 2017 but was forced to look for a new team after they disbanded in 2019. In the interim, SonicFox continued their winning ways going on to dominate the Mortal Kombat 11 circuit. They won Final Kombat earlier this month and didn’t finish lower than 2nd in the tourney all year.
The move is also a coup for Evil Geniuses, who continue to fill the void that Echo Fox left in esports. They were able to acquire their Echo Fox’s spot in the LCS and now have picked up their star FGC player. Also moving to the team is Joe “dekillsage” Coello, who finished 3rd in the Dragonball FighterZ World Tour in 2020. The move brings EG’s fighting game roster to five along with legends Ricki Ortiz, Christopher “NYChrisG” Gonzales and Kevin “PPMD” Nanney
