Mark Hamill has cemented himself as a national treasure. Whether you know him best for being Luke Skywalker or Joker, very few people would say they don’t love them some Mark Hamill. This week, he’ll be helping to further the ongoing crossover between Fortnite and Star Wars. He’ll be sitting down to play some Fortnite with none other than Ninja as part of a special Xbox Sessions event.
Mark took to twitter this week, announcing that he would be streaming a few games along with Ninja. He also promised he would try not to make a fool of himself, which that remains to be seen. While we don’t have a specific time just yet, we know it’ll be happening on Thursday the 19th, the same day that The Rise of Skywalker hits theaters.
This isn’t the first crossover moment between Star Wars and Fortnite. In fact, J.J. Abrams descended into the world of Fortnite to show off some new footage from Episode 9. To watch, you had to log into Fortnite and head over to Risky Reels where it was showing on the big screen. With only two days remaining, all eyes are officially on The Rise of Skywalker.
Joe’s thoughts: Listen, I may not be the biggest Fortnite fan in the world, but I don’t need to be. This is plenty cool whether I like the game or not. Seeing heroes of mine like Mark Hamill heading into Fortnite to meet the new younger fans at their level is AWESOME! Moves like this will help ensure a whole new generation wanting to grow up to be Jedi, and that’s the brilliance behind it. I don’t need Mark Hamill to come talk to me for me to go see Episode IX. No force on heaven or earth will stop me from seeing it. But plenty of people in the younger audience haven’t had that introduction yet, and this is a great move for them.
