Twitch Rivals Debuts Streamer Bowl
Twitch Rivals is kicking off what they’re billing as the greatest crossover event in Twitch history. The Streamer Bowl will begin today, pairing 16 Twitch streamers with NFL athletes as they compete in various tournaments. Events will be held on Tuesdays leading up until the Super Bowl, with a live event held in Miami on January 30th.
So far, we don’t have a lot of information. No announcement has been made about who is competing, or what games will be played. We do know the event will begin today at twitch.tv/twitchrivals with a Fortnite event. The first stage will involve NFL athletes showcasing their abilities alongside Twitch talent. Keep your eyes open for the official start time.
Joe’s Thoughts: Cool! Happy to see the NFL continuing to take the esports and gaming spaces seriously. Fortnite isn’t my favorite game, but it’s the one that makes the most sense for the first day. I hope we find out that more games are involved, but my guess is that it’ll just be the one. The NFL is one of the only legacy sports that I think has a real chance at utilizing esports effectively, although the NBA has surprised me immensely.
