Houston Outlaws Streamers Raise over $11,000 for Gamers Outreach
Each week we bring you two moments, one of epic success, someone who absolutely nailed it! And another of an epic failure, someone who totally failed it. This week for the Nailed It we visit the Houston Outlaws from the Overwatch League. The off-season may have begun but that doesn’t mean they’re taking any breaks from the spotlight. Some of the Houston Outlaws streamed for charity origination Gamers Outreach and raised over $11,000.
Spooktacular Stream-A-Thon
The Houston Outlaws have always had one of the most active fanbases and they were counting on that for this charity initiative along with Gamer’s Outreach. Four members of the Houston Outlaws team participated in the event; Austin “Muma” Wilmot, Jiri “Linkzr” Masalin, Jeffrey “blasé” Tsang, and Sarah “Sarah Schnugget” Schneider, Partnerships Account Manager for the Outlaws. The four of them streamed for a combined 12 hours while raising money for Gamer’s Outreach.
Gamer’s Outreach is a nonprofit organization that provides equipment, technology, and software to help kids cope with treatment inside hospitals. They’ve been helping provide gaming equipment in hospitals for Children since 2007. We had the chance to talk with Sarah, who was one of the ones spearheading this effort along with the three Outlaws players on their experience with the Spooktacular Stream-A-Thon, presented by H-E-B. Together they raised over $11,000 for the event. Despite working alongside three professional Overwatch players with their own Twitch followings and star power, it was Sarah who raised the most money at over $3,700.
Check out this week’s Failed It, featuring a streamer getting a very…unwelcome gift from a viewer.
