Three Top Tier DPS Players From The Overwatch Summer Showdown
The OWLs Nest is CheckpointXP’s official podcast dedicated to the Overwatch League. Every episode Robbie Landis is joined by Jake Lyon to discuss the latest league moves, matches, and more. This episode Robbie and Jake break down three DPS performances from the Overwatch League Summer Showdown qualifier matches that stand above the rest.
Top Tier Damage
All throughout the Summer Showdown players shine regardless of their role. But there’s something special about the damage players that really gets your pumping as the picks rack up in the kill feed. Robbie and Jake picked three players from the week 3 qualifier match to highlight in this episode of the OWLs Nest.
Bombs Away!
Dante “Danteh” Cruz from the Houston Outlaws has always shown promise on flanking heroes like Tracer and Sombra. His hacks are legendary and his pulse bombs are just as deadly. During the Houston Outlaw’s match against the Florida Mayhem Danteh had several multi-kills with his ult. On Junkertown there were a few instances where Danteh seemed to have ‘missed’ the stick on his target. The Ult was just a perfectly timed combo with main tank João Pedro “Hydration” Goes Telles on the Orisa. Danteh would toss in the pulse bomb and Hydration would use Halt to pull in the enemy team.
A Steady Blade
Yeong-han “SP9RK1E” Kim of the Paris Eternal is new to the professional scene and has a real shot at a rookie of the year nod. Since SP9RKLE recently turned 18 he has already been making waves in the professional Overwatch scene. With a deep hero pool and impressive mechanical skill, it’s been his Genji that has been the most impressive. A nano-boosted Genji with a Dragon blade can easily turn a team. SP9RKLE can turn team fights even without the Dragon blade.
One Shot, One Kill
Another reason that the San Francisco Shock is best of the best. Seonchang “ANS” Lee has taken over as the premiere hit-scan player of the Shock’s starting line-up. His Widowmaker play on Illios against the Philadelphia Fusion was one of the big contributing factors in the clean sweep. The Fusions DPS players Jae-hyeok “Carpe” Lee and Hee-Su “Heesu” Jeong just didn’t have an answer to ANS superior play across three maps in their series.
