Amy Hennig of ‘Uncharted’ To Develop Next Big Marvel Game
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is one of the biggest things to happen in film in quite some time. They’ve redefined what long-form storytelling looks like in the medium. Now Marvel has their eyes set on video games as well. Games like Spider-Man and Guardians of the Galaxy give gamers some of the most amazing experiences. Square Enix, creators of Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest, also have a Wolverine game in development. But the real spotlight is going to be on Uncharted Game Director, Amy Hennig. She’s the creative mind on deck for Marvel.
If you don’t recognize the name Amy Hennig, that’s fine, but you’ve probably played plenty of her games. She started her career in the gaming industry way back in the Atari days as a freelance artist. She’s been a part of Electronic Arts as an animator and artist, where she earned the lead designer position for Michael Jordan: Chaos in the Windy City.
She’d go on to work at Crystal Dynamics where she acted, directed, produced and wrote for Legacy of Kain Trilogy. Eventually, she landed at Naughty Dog and helped contribute to the Jak and Daxter Series. Her next project was working as game director on Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune. She was a major factor in the success and creation of the entire Uncharted Franchise and now at Skydance Media, she’s getting to create the next big Marvel experience.
No one knows much about this Marvel project, but with a big name like Amy Hennig on it, it’s going to be ambitious. Just like Guardians of the Galaxy, we know it will be narrative-focused and feature an entirely new storyline. This will be the first video game from Skydance Media as a studio.
There are no clear details on which platforms it will launch on, or when we can expect a release date. With this being the fifth announcement of a Marvel game this year, we are on track for more superheroes in gaming.
