War Is Coming to the Witcher on December 17th
It seems like a lifetime ago that we were all sitting at home with our friends or family watching Henry Cavil fight off grotesque monsters and travel with a spoony bard in Netflix’s The Witcher. The wait for Season 2 has seemed endless, but there is finally a light at the end of the tunnel. The former Superman turned Monster Hunter is coming back to the streaming service on December 17th. With the release of the trailer, we get a small glimpse into what to expect. And it seems war is coming.
Netflix’s The Witcher was a major turning point for video game adaptations. It’s worth mentioning that it is also a quite well-known and best-selling book series. Since time immemorial, video game movies have never lived up to their inspiration. While they may not all be terrible, a lot of them are. Recently, some movies like Detective Pikachu have done well. And we all know the real home for the best adaptations of video games is on streaming services.
What’s next for The Witcher?
The Witcher proved that limited series gives you much more time to flesh out the world and the characters than a two-hour movie does. And with the second season of the Witcher dropping on December 17th, we’ll get to jump back into the world of the Witcher and hopefully see all the characters we came to love reunited.
In the trailer, all of the familiar faces are back, from Geralt of Rivia to Ciri and Yennefer. The trailer mentions that war is on the way about as often as Game of Thrones liked to remind us that winter was coming. But, the war doesn’t just seem to be between the nations of man. There are plenty of big uglies for Geralt and his crew to fight off as well.
We’ll find out more in just under a month when The Witcher Season 2 hits the Netflix streaming service on December 17th.
The Witcher stars Henry Cavil, Freya Allen, Anya Chalotra and Anna Shaffer.
