FGC Star Leffen Would Rather Flip Burgers Than Stream
Each week we bring you two moments, one of epic success, someone who absolutely nailed it! And another of an epic failure, someone who totally failed it. This week for the Failed It we visit a famous figure from the FGC, Leffen, who said he’d rather flip burgers than stream for a living.
Flippin’ For a Living
William Peter “Leffen” Hjelte is a professional fighting game player with numerous credits to his name. He currently plays for Team SoloMid and Red Bull. He’s participated in Super Smash Bros. Melee, Ultimate, Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, and Dragonball FighterZ. He’s recently come under heavy scrutiny on social media for some comments he’s made about streaming as a career. Leffen claimed he’d rather flip burgers than stream if the pay was the same.
Leffen got hit hard by social media and eventually attempted to clarify his statement if a new series of tweets. No one is trying to argue that streamers don’t also have to work hard for their success. Some stream upwards of 10+ hours a day, take no days off, and are constantly in a performance mode which takes more energy than just playing games in your spare time. But Leffen also fails to realize the hell that a lot of retailers and food industry workers have to endure on a daily basis.
