OWLs Nest 2020 Overwatch League Awards
The OWLs Nest is CheckpointXP’s official podcast for the Overwatch League. Every episode Robbie Landis is joined by Jake Lyon to discuss the latest league moves, matches, and more. In this episode Robbie and Jake hand out the first ever OWLs Nest Awards for the 2020 Overwatch League.
The Overwatch League 2020 regular season is over and everyone is resting and preparing for the post-season. With the road to the grand finals before us we await the announcement of Rookie of the Year and MVP. In honor of the 2020 season wrapping up, Jake and Robbie created and handed their own league awards.
OWLs Nest Awards Categories
Most Valuable Player of the Season and Rookie of the Year are of course among the categories. Robbie and Jake both pick the same player for MVP, but have there are two winners for Rookie of the Year. Of course, you’ll have to listen to the episode to see who won. Most Improved Team is for the team that showed the biggest jump in teammate and results since the 2019 season. Biggest Surprise could be anything from a player performing better than expected or an entire team flipping the league on it’s head with their performance.
Biggest Let Down is a category not designed to encapsulate any one player or team, but rather to highlight the many challenges of the season. As the league rises to combat every trial and tribulation that comes their way, there will inevitably be some let downs as fans and players. Finally, most likely to own next season is for a team that showed growth and determination this season and will take it into 2021.
