Close Shave of the Week: Team Secret in DOTA2
Each week at CheckpointXP we bring you a moment in esports that’s too close for comfort. This week for CheckpointXP’s close shave we visit the Overwatch League. This week we visit the DOTA2 scene where Team Secret has been dominating the competition with unrelenting aggression.
Team Secret took another win at this weekends ESL Birmingham ONE Online 2020 Tournament. But the road to victory wasn’t as clean as the final match was. Team Secret tore their way through Group A matches, only dropping a single match to Vikin.gg. In the play-offs they were matched up against Team Alliance and were knocked into the losers bracket are a 2 to 1 series score. This is where they really came alive. Team Secret dropped only one map during their run of the losers bracket. They defeated FlyToMoon 2 and 0. They downed Team Nigma 2 to 1 and stomped VP Prodigy 2 to 0.
All of this led them back to the finals to face off against Team Alliance again. Team Alliance got smashed by Team Secret, there was only one map that was event remotely competitive. When all was said and done and Team Secret had the 3 to 0 victory, Team Alliance had accumulated a total of 32 kills over the three game series. Team Secret had over 30 kills per match.
