One of the most recognizable brands in the world, Nike, and the winningest team in League of Legends history, T1, announced a partnership today via Twitter.
The Korean juggernaut, formerly known as SK Telecom T1, is partnering with the athletic brand to “improve player performance”. This marks the second foray for Nike in to the League world. In 2018, they signed Chinese Royal Never Give Up player, Jian “Uzi” Zi-hao, to a one off endorsement deal. It also marks a continued trend of athletic apparel makers getting involved in the esports space.
Neither Nike nor T1 released any additional comment on the partnership so it remains to be seen if its apparel or back-end related. T1 is home to Korean superstar Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok, the most celebrated League player in the world. They are also the only team in League history to win three world championships.
