League of Legends has now released over 1000 skins for their champions. The new champion skins released today include Hextech Swain, a set of Nightbringer skins for Lee Sin, Soraka, Aphelios, and Vladimir, as well as Dawnbringer Karma. While they all look good, we need to put some special focus on the Karma skin.
Last year, profits from the Dark Star Cho’Gath skin went in support of 20 nonprofits around the world. This year, Riot has formed the Riot Games Social Impact Fund. Riot describes the fund as quote “a unique, philanthropic venture fund, which is a separate entity from Riot Games the game developer and publisher. This fund will allow us to make direct investments and charitable contributions to a wide array of global organizations that are aimed at solving some of the world’s most pressing problems. To date, Riot has already donated over $4 million on players’ behalf to promote equality in education, opportunity, and global citizenship. “

Looking to up their offering from last year, 100% of profits from the Dawnbringer Karma skin will be donated to the fund. In addition, profits from the following items will also be donated to the fund.
- Dawnbringer Karma Chromas
- Dawnbringer Karma border set
- Dawnbringer Karma bundle
- Dawnbringer Karma heart bundle
- ‘All Love’ emote
The sale will run starting today through January 13, 2020. After that, the items will be removed from the shop. During the first quarter of 2020, players will have a say in where the money eventually goes. Riot will allocate money from the fund to help fight issues the players vote for.
Joe’s thoughts: Love it. Any time gaming can be used for charity, I’m all on board with it. The skin looks fabulous, and I love that players will get a say on what causes the money goes towards. Bravo Riot, more stuff like this in the future please!
