Tempest Awards Preview: Best New Esports EventSeries of the Year
Next week in Las Vegas the Esports Business Summit will take place at the MGM Grand. The Esports Business Summit is a chance for all sides of the esports world to come together in a single place for three straight days of collaboration, talks, conferences and more. Part of those three days also includes the Tempest Awards which will take place at the HyperX Esports Arena on September 11th. Over the next few days leading up to the Tempest Awards we’ll be previewing the various categories.
Our Prediction to Win: Fortnite World Cup
It should be no surprise if the Fortnite World Cup walks away with this award. Fortnite is a game that stormed onto the scene at the peak of the battle royale craze and captured the attention of an entire generation. Fortnite is for today’s kids what Halo was for our generation. Love it or hate it, it’s defining an entire era of esports. With one of the biggest prize pools in esports history it brought so many eyes to the finals that singles winner Kyle “Bhuga” Giersdorf was invited to the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Epic and Fortnite have a commanding hold on the esports and it should be no surprise if they take home this award.
The Tempest Awards will take place on September 11th at 8:45 PDT at the HyperX Esports Arena in the Luxor in Las Vegas. You can tune in to watch live at Twitch.tv/CheckpointXP.
