Tempest Awards Preview: Esports Event of the Year (SeasonSeries)
Next week in Las Vegas the Esports Business Summit will take place at the MGM Grand. The Esports Business Summit is a chance for all sides of the esports world to come together in a single place for three straight days of collaboration, talks, conferences and more. Part of those three days also includes the Tempest Awards which will take place at the HyperX Esports Arena on September 11th. Over the next few days leading up to the Tempest Awards we’ll be previewing the various categories.
Our Prediction to Win: 2018 League of Legends World Championship
There’s a lot of good events on here. I mean, a LOT of good events. The Overwatch League is incredibly compelling. The Fortnite World Cup was staggering. However, the League of Legends World Championship stands out above the rest in my opinion. Not many games could justify a month long event. Even fewer could do it with 3 AM start times because it’s being held in South Korea. Yet, I woke up early each time matches were on and found myself glued to my screen. Cloud9 escaping group stages, Invictus going on the warpath, and a european team making it all the way to the finals! That doesn’t even mention the sensation that was K/DA. There’s no other pick to win in my book.
The Tempest Awards will take place on September 11th at 8:45 PDT at the HyperX Esports Arena in the Luxor in Las Vegas. You can tune in to watch live at Twitch.tv/CheckpointXP.
