San Diego State University Adds Esports Certification to Global Campus
Joining the ranks of University of California Irvine and Ohio State University, among others, San Diego State University has added esports to their academic offerings. Students looking to enroll in the global campus certification program can choose between two tracks: Esports Management and Esports Design. Currently they have only developed the level 1 certification, which is 150 course hours and can be completed in a calendar year, but are hoping to add information regarding the level 2 certification next year. Classes offered for the program range from Intro to Esports to Esports Market & Advertising, all of which are set to be taught by industry professionals.
Dane Henderson, a Program Advisor, has over 28 years in the gaming industry with experience working with companies such as Sony Computer Entertainment. Wallace Wang, another Program Advisor, is a published author for titles in the ‘For Dummies’ series and more. The instructional staff is equally as impressive. Eric Constein, a 15 year veteran in the industry, has commentated tournaments for Bungie and Activision. James “Bonzai” Caruso holds six Grammy Awards for his work in recording, producing, and songwriting to name a few. The credentials of everyone involved in the program should leave anyone looking to enroll at ease. The program offerings and complete instructor biographies can be found here at the San Diego State University Global Campus website.
