Stage 4 is here and along with it comes the 2-2-2 Composition Role Lock. Week 1 was full of surprises as teams start to shake out the new meta and what works and doesn’t work for them. The Houston Outlaws and the Paris Eternal start the stage with the Eternal putting the beat down on the Outlaws in a 3 – 1 match. The Los Angeles Gladiators show how in charge they’re going to be throughout the stage as Robert “Surefour” Lane leads them to a 3 – 1 victory over the New York Excelsior. The Guangzhou Charge and the Philadelphia Fusion take their match to a game before the Charge walk away with the win. The Vancouver Titans and the Shanghai Dragons close out the first day with a 3 – 1 match in the Titans favor.
In our first big surprise of the week, the Toronto Defiant lose their match of the stage to the Washington Justice with a 3 – 1 match score. The London Spitfire defeat the Dallas Fuel, also in a 3 -1 match. Continuing the 3 – 1 trend is the San Francisco Shock over the Seoul Dynasty, and rounding out the second night the Chengdu Hunters and the Philadelphia Fusion go all the way to a map 5, but the Fusion just can’t cut it and give up their second win for the week.
As we go into the weekend, the Paris Eternal take the Los Angeles Valiant into a game 5 but can’t secure the win. The Guangzhou Charge take their second win of the week against the Boston Uprising with a clean 4 – 0 sweep. The Houston Outlaws after their lost to Paris look a lot better against the Los Angeles Gladiators as they take a 3 – 1 victory. And the Atlanta Reign look better than they have in a few stages with a 3 – 1 win over the Hangzhou Spark.
Going into the final day of week 1, the Shanghai Dragons take a commanding win over the Seoul Dynasty 3 – 1. The London Spitfire repeat the 3 – 1 trend with a victory of the Toronto Defiant. The Vancouver Titans perform a full sweep on the Florida Mayhem and ending the week with another loss the Boston Uprising drop a game 5 to the Chengdu Hunters.
