Minecraft hits over 1 Trillion Views on Youtube
Minecraft, the insanely popular world-building sandbox simulator, has reached it’s latest milestone achieving over 1 Trillion views on Youtube.
Minecraft already gets to take home the title for most bought video game of all time, but now it’s the first game to ever reach 1 Trillion youtube views. Since its release in 2009, Minecraft has gone on to sell 238 million copies, with over 140 million players signing on monthly. And it’s no surprise as to why, Minecraft has consistently provided players with unique gameplay experiences, noteworthy content updates, and a vast mod community to keep the game fresh.
Minecraft’s Trends over the Years
To celebrate the incredible milestone, Youtube created a new website detailing the timeline and creative explosion surrounding Minecraft content creators. There’s some pretty wild metrics to dive into.
Interestingly, the most popular genre of Minecraft content is a relatively new trend called “100 Days.” These challenges involve gamers facing challenges, completing goals, or trying to simply survive for 100 in game Minecraft days.
The most consistently popular genre of Minecraft content has been animation. Minecraft animations are huge, bringing in millions of views on parody songs, skits and even movie recreations. Sometimes these parody songs are so popular, they manage to hit views in the ballpark of the originals. “TNT” by CaptainSparklez, a parody of “Dynamite” by Taio Cruz, has more views than the song’s official UK version.
There are over 35,000 Minecraft content creators located in over 150 countries across the globe. And by looking at these trends, it seems like that community is going to keep getting bigger.
