Disney+: One Week Later

Okay, so it isn’t exactly one week, but close enough! I wanted to do a retrospective on Disney+ and how I’m feeling about the service about a week into having it. Obviously, not everything has gone perfectly, but there has still been a lot of positive. Let’s break down where the service is at.
Does it work?
Yes! After a rough launch day, the service is at least working. There’s still some missing features, most notably a continue or resume watching feature. Disney has said this is being worked on, and that’s a good thing. The biggest issue so far is the service was reportedly hacked in week one and exposed customer’s information. Despite the issues though, the service is functional and you can absolutely go on and stream the Disney content you want to see.
Best show?
Oof. This is tough. There’s a lot of good stuff to watch on here. I LOVE The Mandalorian and think it definitely has potential to be the best show on the network. I’m also a big fan of Gargoyles, which was a great show from the mid-90’s. Both are well worth putting some time into.
What are you binge watching?
A lot. There’s so much to watch on here. Like I said, Gargoyles is a good one to crank through. If you can stomach the animation, go back and watch X-Men: The Animated Series. I warn you though, it doesn’t hold up the best.
Is it worth it?
Ah yes, the $64,000 dollar question. Or more accurately, the $6.99 question. Is the service worth it? I would say to answer that question, you need to ask yourself another question first. ‘Do I like Star Wars and Marvel?’ If the answer is yes, then unequivocally, you should have the service. The Mandalorian and the MCU is worth the price of admission. If you’re not big on either of those, then it gets a little trickier. If you have a kid, yes it’s worth it. If you like 90’s cartoons, then yes it’s worth it. Big on Disney movies? Probably worth it. If you’re still answering no, then frankly I’m not sure why you’d think you would have any interest in the first place.
I admit, I’m slowing down a little bit. That said, even if I’m not watching on a daily basis, it’s $6.99. Disney nailed the price point on this one, and it’s worth that fee to have access to the Star Wars and Marvel pantheons alone. Good job Disney, you’ve managed to milk me for more money on a monthly basis.
