LCS Legend Doublelift Returns To Streaming
After a lengthy hiatus from streaming the winningest League player in North America history is set to return to the public eye. Yiliang “Doublelift” Peng announced on YouTube that he would return to the online world with an new channel and the intention of becoming “#1 overall” in North America.
The Prodigal Son
There is no League of Legends personality in the US bigger than Doublelift. His story is one of horrific trials circumstances that could have easily set him down the wrong path. His parents were fiercely critical of his decision to pursue esports in the mid-2010’s. So much so that Doublelift found himself homeless at one point. However, in 2013 he’d finally get his chance to be a full time pro for Counter Logic Gaming. Over the next five years, he’d go on to dominate the League Championship Series or LCS, North America’s pro division for League.
During his career, Doublelift won seven LCS Split Championships and Rift Rivals title. Over the decade long history of the LCS, more than half the championships were won by a team with Doublelift in bottom lane. But the dark cloud continued to follow the legend. Weeks before the 2018 Spring playoffs, Doublelift’s older brother stabbed their mother, killing her, and seriously wounded their father. But after brief return to TSM in 2020, Doublelift retired from pro play.
Back Again
After his retirement, Doublelift remained with TSM as a content creator. After a few months, he decided to take some time off from streaming. But Doublelift coming back means one of the top personalities is back to streaming League. In his return announcement, he stated that he was “having fun” with the game again and wants to be #1 in the server. It’s great to see him back in the community with a new channel and it’s only a matter of time before he’s back to being Mr “Everyone is Trash” before long.
