Pardon me for fangirling a little, but oh my god I love Awesome Games Done Quick. For those not in the know, Games Done Quick is a twice-annual charity event that sees gaming speed runners gather together to beat games as fast as possible while raising money for charity. Think you’re fast at your favorite game? Check out AGDQ here and be prepared to feel inferior.

Games Done Quick started in 2010 and has since split into Awesome Games Done Quick in January, as well as Summer Games Done Quick in June. The event runs over the course of a week and raises money for nationwide charities. This years incarnation is raising money for the Prevent Cancer Foundation.

Looking at the schedule, we’ve got some awesome (pun intended) titles being run. These are my biggest recommendations.

  • Sonic 3 and Knuckles – Today at 4:00 PM EST
  • The Legend of Zelda Relay – Tuesday at 9:15 PM EST
  • Final Fantasy VIII – Wednesday at 1:00 AM EST
  • Resident Evil IV – Thursday at 12:00 PM EST
  • Super Mario 64 Randomizer – Friday at 11:30 PM EST
  • Dark Souls and Control – Back to back starting Saturday at 1:22 AM EST

Those are my top picks from each day through the end of the event. However, there’s tons of great games every day being run. Look for the Awful Games Done Quick section, they’re running Super Hydlide this year and that game is terrible. And of course, if you can make a donation to charity, there’s tons of wonderful prizes available to win. More importantly, it goes to a great cause!
