It looks like Astralis is back to their dominant selves in the world of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. They were absolutely unstoppable at IEM Beijing over the weekend, demolishing anyone who stood in their way. The tournament added up to them winning all 4 four series played, all 9 maps they competed on, and a staggering 144 out of 196 rounds.
The finals saw Astralis facing off against the new-look 100 Thieves squad, who recently acquired the Renegades roster. It was a good first showing for them, as they made it to the finals. However, Astralis dominated them in two consecutive matches to secure the $125,000 dollar prize. With the win, they’ll also retake their number 1 ranking in the world.
Our thoughts: It certainly seems like Astralis has righted the ship. After flagging results earlier in the year, they decided to take some time off and get rested. It appears to have worked, as the Danes have been on a tear for the latter half of the year. We’ll see if that trend continues at ECS Season 8 at the end of the month.
