Low Team Damage – Episode 62 – Overwatch 2 and The World Cup
It’s been a big week for Overwatch following the biggest weekend of the year for Blizzard Entertainment. Overwatch 2 was announcement, being billed as new type of sequel to the popular competitive first person action game. Plus, the Overwatch World Cup went down and left the world shocked at the results.
Overwatch 2 has been on the horizon for some time following leaks early in the year after the mass Blizzard lay-off. Rumors and speculation had it being anything from a new update to a brand new $60 game. With Blizzcon 2019 come and gone we’ve got a bit more details on what it is, including some actual looks at the game itself. Jeff Kaplan billed it as a sequel, but said they wanted to redefine what it meant to have a sequel to a game. Despite everything we know there’s still a lot we don’t know. Robbie and Norris talk about what their homes and dreams for the sequel is as well as what some of their worries are.
In addition, the Overwatch World Cup went down at Blizzcon 2019 as well and the results shocked the world. Historically, South Korea is a powerhouse of a team, taking home the gold medal in 2016, 2017 and 2018. This year the were actually handed a three defeats on the way to what would be a bronze medal finish. The big surprise came with the amazing run that Team USA had, going undefeated through their entire bracket, defeating South Korea twice and only dropping a single map. Robbie and Norris break down all the action that happened at the World Cup as well as talk about some interviews they had done with Shane “Rawkus” Flaherty and Harsha Bandi — both of Team USA.
