Team Liquid Bounced From Worlds

And just like that, North America’s year is done in League of Legends. Following a miserable Sunday performance at the 2019 League of Legends World Championship, Team Liquid has been eliminated from competition. Talked about as the best team North America has ever assembled, it wasn’t enough to escape Group D of the main stage.
At the end of the day, Liquid was in it right up until the end. A 2-1 record in the first half of the double round robin kept them competitive right to the end. A bad looking loss to Damwon Gaming started things off on Sunday, before Liquid rebounded against AHQ Esports Club. The result was what every team hopes for at Worlds: to still be in control of your own destiny going into the final game.
That final game against Invictus Gaming was one to be forgotten however. From the word go, Liquid was behind and they never really seemed like they had a chance against the former world champions. What ensued was a miserable and frankly embarrassing defeat, that put the perfect exclamation point on North America’s dismal performance at worlds this year. Sorry North America, maybe next year. Seems like we say that a lot, doesn’t it?
