In a concerning move, PUBG Corp. canceled plans to provide team-branded items for the upcoming PUBG Global Championship. Revenue from the in-game items were to be shared by all teams participating in the tournament.
According to Esports Insider, PUBG Corp sent out an email to teams that qualified for the Global Championship and cited ” inability to ensure a high enough quality skin to represent your organization in PUBG.”
Instead of the team branded items, PUBG will release Global Championship branded skins which will be added to the prize pool of the event. Which means if your team doesn’t win you won’t see the Lions Share of the money from the skin sales.
This move is only compounds growing concerns for the PUBG pro scene as Spacestation Gaming announced they would no longer participate in the esport as of October 15th.
