Rumors had been swirling all season that the LMS region was not long for this world. For those who don’t follow international League of Legends, and who could blame you, the LMS region encompasses Hong Kong, Macau, and a slough of other asian countries. Home to season 2’s champions, the Taipei Assassins, the LMS region has undergone multiple scandals and difficulties the last few seasons. Earlier this year, leaks began to spread that the LMS region would be disbanded following the 2019 season.

Now it looks like those leaks have come to fruition, although in a different way than we expected. Rather than just being disbanded, the LMS region will be combined with the Southeast Asian region, known as the LST. Teams will be taken from both regions and combined into one starting in 2020. This likely means that some teams will not be making the transition, and will have to find homes elsewhere.
