Game Over DR took place over the weekend, to much fanfare. The Fighting Games Community descended upon Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic for the weekend event and it did not disappoint, especially in its Street Fighter V Tournament.
In a bracket loaded with top talent it was Japanese veteran and 2018 EVO Champion Hajime “Tokido” Taniguchi, that stood atop the podium wining over Arman “Phenom” Hanjani. Phenom was able to reset the bracket in Grand Finals but Tokido kicked it into another gear and 3-0’d Phenom’s Karin after the tight first set.
Game Over DR is the brainchild of Capcom Cup 2017 winner, MenaRD. He vowed to take his $250k in winnings from the tournament and help develop the FGC scene in his native Dominican Republic. And the DR crowd made sure that every player felt welcome.
