To celebrate the anniversary of the very first release of Pokémon games in 1996, Pokémon Direct revealed a new Pokémon game for the Nintendo Switch. Pokémon Sword and Shield will be coming late 2019.

This will be the 8th generation of Pokémon. Pokémon Direct also revealed the new Galar region, which seems to be based off the UK, and the new three starter Pokémon, Grookey, Scorbunny, and Sobble.
