In a surprisingly progressive move, Russian organization Vaevictus Esports has dropped its entire roster for LCL and signed on 5 new players — all female.
This was in response to Riot Games Russia’s decision to discontinue the old CIS Continental League and adopt a franchise model. This new roster features all rookie players, who have never played professionally, and they will be competing in one week. The player’s whose ranks are available are in mid-diamond or high platinum. They only have a week to prepare. Teams like C9 have in the past come off the solo queue ladder and dominated, but this feels like this team is being set up to fail.
