We also breakdown a partnership between Gen G Esports and Eastern Michigan University and lastly Jacob tells us about his experience trying out for a Valorant team!
Teniente‘s Texas
St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas. made waves this spring by hiring Katlin Teniente as their head coach. The new program is not only is entering its first season its also going in with one of the first female head coaches in the country. We talk to Coach Teniente about her experience in the back end of esports and what it’s like the be top dog in a male-dominated position. Also, with Texas becoming a major hub for esports, we talk about what sort of culture St. Mary’s wants to foster for its new squad.
Gen G Eastern Michigan
Eastern Michigan University partnered with Gen G Esports this month to provide a litany of events and support for the school. The Seoul-based Gen G is a major player in the esports world fielding teams in the Overwatch League, LCK, and 2K League. The partnership includes a high school open tournament, women in gaming seminars, and also social media campaigns. Our intrepid team of Norris and Jacob expand on what it could mean for EMU.
The Eye of the Jacob
It’s not every day where you get to try your luck at making an esports team. But our host Jacob Brothers did just that. A couple of weeks ago he tried out for his school’s Valorant side and he tells us just how it went. And it didn’t end up the way you’d expect either.
