Southern Esports Invitational Comes In October
The new school year is quickly approaching and universities across North America are grappling with how to serve their students. But regardless if kids are on campus or not, one region of the US will still have a major invitational tournament coming soon, the South. The Southern Esports Invitational aims to dominate the fall but its format is a bit different. It’s a multi-game, 20+ school competition that has more in common with the Olympics than The LCS.
Who Can We Root For?
Announced via Twitter, the Southern Esports Invitational revealed that schools from nearly ten states are participating in the event. Colleges like University of Florida, Georgia, Mississippi State, and University of Texas are all confirmed. Texas has the largest cohort of schools lined up, with seven colleges coming from the Lone Star state.
The’ll all duke it out in some of the top esports in the world right now. The line-up of games includes: Valorant, League of Legends, Overwatch, Rocket League, Modern Warfare and Rainbow Six Siege. The choice of Modern Warfare is particularly interesting because its one of the few instances of collegiate Call of Duty.
The Southern Esports Invitational starts the weekend of October 16th and ends October 18th.
