Ubisoft Announces New Battle Royale Called Hyper Scape; Is it dead on arrival?
In a few weeks, French game developer and publisher Ubisoft will be hosting its first digital conference, called Ubisoft Forward.
CATCH THIS STORY AND MORE ON THE BREAKDOWN:
We give you the details on everything we know since the announcement of Dr. Disrespect being banned from Twitch including what his last moments on the platform looked like. Plus, Microsoft has hired a DOG to voice aliens in the upcoming Halo game, and a former NFL Punter has reignited his beef with the former biggest star on Mixer.
There are several rumors that we can expect to hear more about there, and amongst them are potentially new Prince of Persia and Rayman games. But before that, Ubisoft teased their newest AAA project, called Hyper Scape.
Well @HyperScapeGame is going to be revealed. It’s a FPS Battle Royale from @UbisoftMTL launching on July 12th. Hyper Scape is being built with streamers in mind in a full partnership with Twitch. Twitch chat will supposedly influence some game mechanics. pic.twitter.com/mwVfs3nUEt

The developer working on this game is Ubisoft Montreal, the studio behind some of the biggest Ubisoft games and franchises, including Rainbow Six, Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and more. The game will be free-to-play, and it is in development for both PC and consoles, with full crossplay supported.
Sources: Hyper Scape is a free to play BR FPS set in a futuristic virtual world for both PC and consoles with the console launch coming later this year including crossplay. Hyper Scape goes into closed beta next week with open beta and full launch of the game on July 12th pic.twitter.com/gUURbvo1N3

The console launch is planned for later this year, but what’s really interesting is that the game is coming to beta next week and will be fully launched on 12th July. Ubisoft is probably trying to emulate the blitzkrieg strategy as the one Electronic Arts did with the Apex Legends launch.
Is there room on this planet for more battle royale shooters? Is this genre not bled dry as it is? I don’t think there are any specific answers to those questions, but depending on how the newest game is received, we may be able to tell more than we initially hoped we would be able to.
