Dead By Daylight Silent Hill Chapter 16 DLC Revealed
After months of speculation, we can finally put down our tinfoil hats as the Dead by Daylight team revealed the new licensed chapter DLC in their 4th-anniversary stream as Silent Hill. This new chapter will introduce a new map, Cheryl as the survivor and the Pyramid Head as the new killer. And to make it even more exciting, you can download the Public Test Build right now on PC (Steam).
New Survivor and Killer
Pyramid Head, known as The Executioner, is a sadistic and merciless killer fixated on dispensing punishment through pain. Never without his hulking great blade in tow, Pyramid Head has stepped into the fog to fulfill his nefarious duty.
Cheryl Mason, previously known as Heather, is the Chapter’s newest survivor. Having freed herself from the religious cult that had pursued her since birth, she now must fight an eternal battle in the Entity’s realm.
New Killer Mechanics
Pyramid Head introduces a new mechanic instead of the traditional hooking mechanism, where he can call upon the powers of Silent Hill to entrap the survivors without needing to pick them up. This alone showcases Behaviour Interactive’s intent on continually developing the game.
New Map – Midwich Elementary School
Midwich Elementary School is the scene of unspeakable horrors. Any sense of the innocence that once marked these halls is gone. In its place: stained walls, rusted chains, hanging cadavers, and a sense that things have gone horribly wrong.
There have been enormous amounts of speculation over this recent DLC ever since the developers announced that chapter 16 would feature a classic horror license. We speculated in a previous article our thoughts on who might join the others in the fog. Many of our theories mirrored other Dead by Daylight theory-creators (or “fog whisperers”), such as Friday the 13th, Candyman, and even Tony Hawk. And, yes… we even theorized Silent Hill, and personally I couldn’t be any more excited!
The team at Behaviour Interactive announced several other updates and plans for the next year including the plan to incorporate multi-platform crossplay between all players. The idea should also solve the match-making issue that many players have concerns over. Players should see this occur in two phases and should be concluded by the end of the year.
We will also see a major graphical update within the year. We have already seen this with the Doctor’s map “Léry’s Memorial Institute” so it is no surprise they plan to expand that to compare with newer games in development.
Behvaiour Interactive’s community developers also expanded and introduced their “Fog Whisperer” program to support dedicated and passionate Dead by Daylight streamers and influencers. These fog whisperers will receive exclusive information, chapter codes to give away, and more. You too could be a fog whisperer by using #IntoTheFog.
This new Silent Hill chapter is the first step towards a new era for Dead by Daylight and Behaviour Interactive. Other the Left 4 Dead’s Bill Overbeck, this will usher in so many new horror icons that we have come to love from other games. Who would you like to see added into Dead by Daylight?
