Dead by Daylight Chapter 16 Horror Icon Theories
Every 3 months, Dead by Daylight fans come together to theorize on the next chapter announcement, but with the 4th-anniversary of Dead by Daylight around the corner, fans were promised some big news! Here’s what the development team had to say about Dead by Daylight Chapter 16.
Join the Dead by Daylight team in celebrating the game’s 4th anniversary by tuning in on Twitch and Youtube on May 26 at 2pm EST.
During these exceptional times, the Dead by Daylight team has worked hard to prepare a panel-based review of the past year and most notably of the year to come. Panelists will be presenting from their homes; giving fans and journalists alike the breakdown of the most recent developments within the game, what the ever active and thriving Dead by Daylight community has been up to and will end with the reveal of Chapter 16.
This new chapter will feature a classic license, one that has marked the world of horror since its inception. As with every new Chapter, it will feature a new map, a terrifying new killer and a mysterious survivor.

With confirmation about a “classic license” the theories have been running rampant. Here are the best theories we’ve found:
Candyman
First on the list is Candyman. With the upcoming reboot of the series, it would make sense for Dead by Daylight to have a place for this license. Some of the earliest speculations of this came when DbD streamer, and researcher, Paulie Esther saw that Tony Todd (the original actor to play Candyman) followed Dead by Daylight, Behaviour Interactive and many DbD content creators on Twitter.
This wouldn’t be the first time Twitter would be a major hint to a chapter release since Paulie correctly guessed the Stranger Things chapter based on similar events with DbD Game Director, Mathieu Côté.
Jason Voorhees – Friday The 13th
Now, Friday The 13th has its own game, which has a very similar layout to Dead by Daylight, where survivors try to escape the 1 killer. The game hit a snag quickly after the release due to legal issues between screenwriter Victor Miller and director Sean S. Cunningham over ownership of Jason Voorhees that continues, leaving the game unable to evolve or update since then. Since this same issue would probably relate to Dead by Daylight, it is unlikely that Jason will be making an appearance to the game anytime soon, even though Behaviour Interactive continually extends the invitation to that franchise.
However, there are some claims that there may be a legal loophole as long as Behaviour doesn’t refer to Jason’s mother (and a few other details). In a recent video, Paulie Esther again expresses some insight into whether this could be possible or not.
I personally doubt Behaviour Interactive would try to use legal loopholes since they are a very respectable game development company and wouldn’t want to hurt their relationship with the license holders.
Pennywise the Clown – IT
Stephen King’s IT could fit the bill for the next chapter based on the description from the Dead by Daylight team. And currently, this holds the strongest evidence according to DbD content creator, The King.
In the video, The King references that the Dead by Daylight team are huge fans of Stephen King, and they previously tried for the license but were declined. Perhaps there has been a change of heart and the alien, shapeshifting clown will finally make its way into the game.
Pyramid Head – Silent Hill
Out of all of the options on this list, I personally hope this one is true. However, there isn’t much to base this off of other than the shape of the number “4” they are using for their 4th-anniversary graphic.
Pyramid Head wouldn’t be the first licensed video game character to enter the game since Bill Overbeck from Left 4 Dead was offered. However, he would be the first video-game based killer to be added into the game, which could open the door to several other video game horror icons, such as Nemesis from Resident Evil 3.
DbD content creator, earthtolydia shares some thoughts on whether the Silent Hill character could make its way to Dead by Daylight.
Tony Hawk
There has been speculation about Tony Hawk making his appearance in Dead by Daylight ever since last September, when DbD Game Director, Mathieu Côté tweeted out to Mr. Hawk himself. The tweet simply asked how a respected game developer would go about having him in their game, asking for his “friend,” of course.
There are some theories that there might be two releases at the same time. This would include Tony Hawk’s releasing in June. But, I’d put my money that Tony Hawk would be a September release. I only say this because it would match up with the release of the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater Remakes. Either way, Tony Hawk would be a very fun inclusion to the game and I’d welcome him to the fog.
