Marvel’s Avengers Video Game And The Future of Super Hero Games
The dynamic duo of Robbie Landis and Ben Morse is back once again for another episode of the Other Identity. The Other Identity is a podcast about exploring the culture created by comic books. This week Robbie and Ben discuss the newest superhero game releasing in September, Marvel’s Avengers. They also talk more about what makes a good superhero video game.
Marvel’s Avengers Video Game
In just a few weeks the highly anticipated Marvel’s Avengers video game by Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics will be releasing. The game comes out on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Between the two hots, Robbie is an avid gamer, but Ben still has an interest in how the game is going to turn out. Robbie played the first-week BETA version of the game and the two talked about what makes it great. Robbie talked about how the game manages to capture the unique power sets and characters of the heroes. As well as how gripping the story is and how it could end up being the video game version of the MCU.
The Future of Super Hero Gaming
Robbie and Ben talk about what makes a good superhero game. There have been a lot of great games featuring superheroes over the years. However, it wasn’t until the Batman Arkham series that superhero movies truly entered a golden age. The Arkham games also paved the way for Spider-Man on the PS4 and the new Marvel’s Avengers game. Robbie explains the difficulties of designing a game centered around multiple heroes as opposed to one hero. Ben and Robbie also talk about what heroes are made for video games and what heroes will likely never get their own game.
