- Canadian schools have taken four ranks in the rankings: Toronto, British Columbia, Carleton and Alberta.
- Current champions, the Rochester Institute of Technology were defeated by former champions, UBC in the upper bracket Ro32. In the upper bracket Ro16, UBC was then beaten by Rutgers.
- 2nd and 3rd place last year, University of Illinois at Chicago and Stony Brook University respectively are still in the upper bracket. Currently, UIC is in the Ro8 and SBU the Ro16.
