Esports will take place again on the Olympics’ stage next year. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) confirmed its first official esports week. They will host it in Singapore from June 22-25. As part of the Olympic Esports Series, it will showcase its first in-person live finals. The series was created with the International Federations after last year’s success.
This is a landmark decision for esports. For centuries, the Olympics only recognized physical sports like boxing or running. Countries only saw athletes represent them for the gold medal. Now, gamers can bring him the honor. Virtual gaming is beginning to be respected as much as traditional sports. It validates this generation’s definition of an athlete as the number of professional gamers continues to grow.
