The insanely popular streamer, Dr. Disrespect, has recently announced that he’s launching his own game studio, the Midnight Society. They’re coming out of the gates strong, bringing in top talent from companies like Bungie and Activision.

Their first game is certainly going to be a competitive shooter. And their mission is to involve the game’s community from the start.

A Day Zero Community

A blog post on The Midnight Society’s website explains how the team wants fan input to play a leading role in the game’s development.

“We flip the tables on the traditional video game development model and embrace the ‘Day Zero Community’. That means including our players – yes, you – from the earliest most inception. That could be testing reload times and recoil patterns in a firing range or jumping in for the first-ever PVP sessions. No more “I hope this game will be good.” Be there when your voice can actually make an impact because we want to hear it. Really.”

This approach to game development is certainly going to lend credibility and additional attention to the project. After a litany of disastrous AAA releases like Cyberpunk, Battlefield 2042, Call of Duty: Vanguard, it’s no surprise that gamers have become fed up with sub-par releases.

The Midnight Society’s discord server currently has over 30,000 members signed up.

Dr. Disrespect’s History of Game Development

Before he was known as a streamer, Dr. Disrespect actually began his career as a level designer for CoD and Halo.

Some of the maps he worked on for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare include: Solar, Horizon, Instinct, Ascend, Recovery, Sideshow, Site 244 and Quarantine.

Now with the formation of The Midnight Society, he’s been reunited with a former Infinity Ward Creative Strategist, Robert Bowling.

It will be interesting to see what Midnight Society brings to the table. All we know is that those lobbies are going to get sweaty.
