‘Devil May Cry’ Show Won’t Feature Chris Pratt

The producer for Netflix’s wildly successful ‘Castlevania’ series, Adi Shankar, spoke with IGN Japan about his next project. Shankar will produce an animated adaptation of ‘Devil May Cry’, using the hit Capcom franchise as source material. Unfortunately, well depending on who you ask, it appears Chris Pratt will not be joining the series.

“I can confirm that Vergil is in it, as well as Lady, and of course Dante as well,” Shankar revealed before jokingly adding, “I can also confirm that Chris Pratt won’t be voicing any of the characters.”

Everyone knows Chris Pratt from his goofy ‘Parks & Rec’ days to his hijinks-filled adventures as Star-Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy. His entrance into the Marvel Cinematic Universe catapulted him into the A-list spotlight and now he’s raising eyebrows with some of his recent castings as Garfield and Mario.

Trolls all across Twitter are making fake casting announcements for roles Pratt obviously would be a terrible fit for. It’s a light-hearted and fun protest for these goofy casting decisions that opens up a larger discussion. Why are actors cast as races they aren’t? Pratt has no Italian heritage yet he will be playing arguably the most iconic Italian animated character of all time. We are crossing our fingers in the hope is accent won’t be too horrible.

‘Devil May Cry’ Release Date

However, it appears that the production of ‘Devil May Cry’ is going swimmingly without Pratt. Fans can expect 8 episodes in the first season and most likely a second season to follow. Shankar’s treatment of the story spans multiple seasons. But, there are no plot details at this time as well as a release date. As of now, the scripts have just been finished so it is unlikely we will hear about a date for quite some time.

Adi Shankar’s work includes animated adaptations of Assasins Creed, PUBG, and Far Cry 3. It would be safe to say that ‘Devil May Cry’ is in good hands.
