Celebrate Pride In September With Gamers.Vote And The Trevor Project

Those who know me, know that in addition to providing the absolute worst takes in esports and gaming, I’m also passionate about the LGBTQIA+ community. As a trans woman, I’m always happy to lend a voice and a platform to causes. However, I also love hosting charity streams. It’s been two years since I’ve hosted one, which is why I’m beyond excited to announce Pride In September! 12 hours, 12 Streamers, all raising money for The Trevor Project while encouraging the community to register to vote! Sadly, all too often, the importance of causes like these come down to statistics.

  • Suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death among young people. Lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender youth are more than four times more likely to attempt suicide than their peers.
  • LGB youth from highly rejecting families are 8 times more likely to attempt suicide than youth from accepting families.
  • Up to 50 percent of all trans people have made a suicide attempt – many before the age of 25.

The numbers go to show why it’s so critical that everyone cast their vote this year, which is why we’ve partnered with Gamers.Vote for the event. This Sunday, I’ll be joined by 11 other streamers. We’ll each taking an hour on the front page of Twitch to show our stuff, encourage the community to vote, and of course raise money for The Trevor Project. We’ll see you all there this Sunday at 11:30 AM EST on Twitch!

About The Trevor Project

The Trevor Project is the world’s largest suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Questioning) young people. The organization works to save young lives by providing support through free and confidential suicide prevention and crisis intervention programs on platforms where young people spend their time: our 24/7 phone lifeline, chat, text, and soon-to-come integrations with social media platforms. They also run TrevorSpace, the world’s largest safe space social networking site for LGBTQ youth, and operate innovative education, research, and advocacy programs.
