Overwatch League star and main tank for the Seoul Dynasty, Baek “Fissure” Chan-hyung, is retiring from the Overwatch League. The announcement came in a surprise social media post from the Dynasty’s twitter account.
Fissure was hailed as one of the best players in the OWL at his position. In season 1, guided the Los Angeles Gladiators into a playoff berth after a trade from London Spitfire. He would come second in MVP voting trailing only the New York Excelsior’s, Jjonak. Unfortunately, he was conspicuously absent from playoff matches in the inaugural season citing “internal issues” with his LA teammates.
In the off-season, Fissure expressed his desire to join an all Korean roster and signed with the Seoul Dynasty in season 2. However, Fissure saw limited play time in the current season due to the coaching staff preferring Hwang “Marve1” Min-seo. With Fissure’s departure, the Dynasty are left with only one player specializing in main tanking which could create burnout issues as they try to make a late push into the season playoffs.
